Feb 24

this week we had a whole family that we are trying to ractivate. there is a grandma and then i think 4 kids then lots of grandkids. the grandma just went through the temple a couple of weeks ago. she is in my area. then a daughter of hers is in my area too. so we got the grandma at church then the daughter showed up and we were really happy then a nother daughter showed up (she is in a different area but in the ward we have 6 missionaries in my ward). and they all stayed all three hours and brought there kids. they had a brother that had just gone to the hospitle an hour before and they all still made the sacrafice to go to church it was a really cool experience to see them there.

so my area is really big and it is in the countryish right out side the main city. so everyone takes siestas. so our church starts at 4 so people will go cause they will sleep till 9 or ten wake up have luch go back to bed untill 330 and then stay up until 12 or one.

also with that our study schedual is different it is personal at 8 and work at 9 until noon then lunch and comp study and launguage study and my training to be a missionary until 4 then work until 930 so we have a ''siesta'' our selves.

so today we are travelling back to montivedeo to go to the temple. this is the first time that this mission is doing a temple trip. i think  it is zone conference and they are just having them all down in the mission home this change and everyone is going to the temple. so in the last 8 weeks i have gone to the temple 8 times.

my  spanish is coming along i can follow most stuff now. it is anoying when i get asked a question and i hear all of it but one word. and then i dont know what they asked. but i can get most of it. i understood alot in church now so that is good.

my comp is right on the hump of his mission. today he has exactly a yar left. and then on the 5 of march he is halfway and then on the 14 of march he has finished a year.

this week in church we had 4 investagaters in church. 2 of which love everything about the church go everyweek but dont agre with tithing so they cant be baptised.
a nother is a 8 year old girl we havent started teaching her but her grandma is a member her grandkids moved in with her 2 week ago cause stuff at there home wasnt good. so we talked to the grandma saturday and she brought the littl girl we are going to teach her this week.

the 4th is a eternal invesagater and she comes everyso often but i havet met her yet.

i would send pictures but my camera is dead and i dont have a way to upload pictures.

but 2 saturdays ago and last saturday we had baptisms in our ward. it is really cool to see people make the dessision to come unto christ and make covanants and keep them.

so all of last week i had sweated for 5 days straight day and night. nonstop sweat. i was constantly drenched.

so today we leave at one and we take a 8 hour bus ride to the mission home stay the night go to the temple eat american food. go to some meetings then leave around 6 back to artiges. and get home around 2 in the morning. its alot of bus but i feel like i am gonna sleep alot of it. 8 hours a night is still not enough sleep.

Feb 17, 2014

so this week i got to uruguay and dan was there to pick me up from the mtc. it was awesome. then we went back to the mission home and we had orientation. i talked with the smiths which was really cool. we met our trainers in front of the temple then we went to the temple together so it was a cool first experience. my trainer is elder finegan he is from missiori. he was dans comp in the mtc. so he knows him very well. so after the temple we  got on a bus to my area. my area is artegas. it was a 8 hour bus ride out there and we got in at 2 in the morning so we got to our hous at 3.

my house is a little concrete shack with sheet metal roof. its got running water and hot water. well its hot for five minutes. my area is artegas and dan is in the area to. so i am with him right now.
so my spanish is coming along. i am getting better with it. i can comunicate and buy stuff on my own at stores and things. i am able to follow almost all of the lessions we are teaching. we got to our area on wenseday so with 4 days we taught 20 lessons so we are working hard. i am waling about 15 to 20 miles a day. and its all dirt roads. it is about 2 km to church so on sunday we had to be at church early to meet with the ward mission learder. then we had to go back to pick someone up and walk them to church. we talked to him right before we walked the first time and we said wed be back in 30 minutes. so we walk back and he is not there anymore so then we had to walk back to church. it was frustrating but that is the problem here no one goes to church. everyone is very lazy and laid back. time doesnt really matter here.
there is 500 on record in our ward but only 90 go. so its alot of finding and getting inactives back to church.

so artegas is known to be hot hot hot like 130. and no one has AC. you just sweat all summer long. but it has been cool this week like 80-90s. it is right next to brazil. so today we walked to brazil and went shopping. we went to a place that is like tocanos. it was so good. its the real deal. i could hear the meat mooing to me it was so good.

this week has been chalenging but fun i am getting used to being a missionary and learnig sppanish. the people are awesome here. it is really pretty. my area is huge. like i could walk an hour and still not be close to the edge. there is a lot of work to do but president told me that i was put there to do it. he knew i should be there in artegas it was cool.

Feb 6, 2014

well this week we had a couple of events.

1 we went proselyting, and of course it was raining. it was raining pretty hard and they and we had to walk around on dirt roads and it was super hot. we were sweating like pigs and getting rained on at the same time. it wasnt a good combo. because then for the rest of the day there was thousands of mosquitos. it was to the point where we would be walking and 20- 30 of them where on me or my companion. i will not joke i killed at least 100 of them that day. it was funny we we came back everyone counted there bites the average for the group was around 40.

there is two reasons for that story. #1 is why would i go to a foreign country and speak a different launguage and walk in the mud and the rain and get eaten alive by mosquitos. why would anyone do that.we talked as a district. we did it because we know that Jesus Christ lives. we know that joseph smith was a prophet. we know that he had the first vision and restored the truth of the gospel on the earth. we know that he translated the book of mormon. and it brings happiness. we want to share this with everyone we can. that is why we did all theses things. because we know that the church is true and it brings us happiness and happiness to anyone that listens. i know that if you read the words of christ which are in the book of mormon you will be happier

second reason for the mosquito story. we could not take it anymore my compainion was ready to flip out cause he was getting more bites then i was. so we stopped and said a prayer in the street. we said in the name of the son Jesus Christ we command you mosquitos to get thee hence. i have never been to the point where i have been so determined to get rid of something that i said i command you to leave. and command it in the name of jesus christ. but the mosquitos did not come near us for the remainding 2 hours. they were still out and getting other people but they didnt touch us. it was really cool to see that me and my compaion both could have enough faith in christ that it would work. and it did.

next story we had the most amazing asada on saturday. it was probably the best meat i have ever had. it was truly amazing and i hope to go back and get more this week if we are in the same place.

a district got stuck in their room. the door handle broke and the lock

was still in the doorway. it was a huge thing at the ccm. and it was kinda funny. they ended up having to grind the door handle off.

Jan 30, 2014

this week went by really quick. we got in new elder last night. they got in at 11 and the hermanas came noocking on our door and i had no idea what was going on. so being the district leader me and my comp went and help the new elders get to there rooms and make there beds take there suitcases up tell them what time to wake up, what time is breakfast. all that stuff. so i got back to bed at midnight. thats really late for a missonary.

we get in about 30 more missonaries today. so it should be fun meeting everyone. i have been able to talk to the new people in spanish and get my point across. i ever was using different tenses. so that was good. this week we are going prosoliting in a niceer area. that means there is some american food. which is nice i am excited to be out in the feild. dan and i have been talking and he will pick me up from the airport.

andrew and adam. the latins are so small. it is kinda funny. like the tallest is 5'9 they are short. i have read alot in the book of mormon and it is truly amazing how happy it makes you. it truly is the word of christ. we have listened to numorous president holland talks and it is amazing how powerfull he is i love him. he is really cool.

we saw some missonaries that are going home yesterday it was cool to talk to them and have them tells us some experiences

i am continually working and it is paying off. my spanish is comming along. i still dont know everything but i am almost to the point where i can manage. the grammer isnt right and the words arent perfect but its getting there.

January 23, 2014

This week we got a new mission president. His travels were delayed he was supposed to arrive on Tuesday morning. So that being said. I was having a district leader meeting with president openshaw and around 7:35ish president gave a prayer. He prayed that the new president would not be harmed in his travels with the weather.(I thought it was odd he asked for his safety with the weather) Ok so about 3 minutes later the weather picked up and was horrible winds and thunderstorms. The old president had no idea it was going to do that. The new presidents plane came in for landing at around 7:40 so as it approached it hit the storm with 50 knot I believe cross winds and lightning. A 10 foot chunck of the right leading egde on the wing wripped off and was sucked into the engine. The leading edge getting wripped off should of taken the plane down. It has in the past. Then the piece getting sucked into the engine should of blown the engine up. The plane should of crashed. No doubt should it of crashed. I know that president openshaw was guided by the spirit to prayer for the safety of the president. I know that God was looking out for the president in his travels. It was a very cool experience to see.    There is a picture of it if you search it. It was delta 101. So he had to be diverted on an emergency landing in montivedo and showed up her the next day at 5 in the morning.
This week has been focused around the new president. We are going out prosoliting again this Saturday so it should be fun. It helps learn you learn Spanish really quickly. I am getting more and more comfortable with it and and ready to be on the field already. I feel the best way to learn it now is to just use it. 3-4 weeks in the mtc is about all you need. The rest is just touch up stuff that you could do in the field.

I was reading in the bible and came across this. This was really cool.
In Ezekiel 37 it is prophesying of the resurrection of mankind.
However look at it from a different view. The view of the restoration of the gospel.
We were spiritually dead. We hadn’t had it in a while. Our bones were very dry (Ezekiel 37:2). He then put the breath back into us (Ezekiel 37:2). He put back in the spirit into our lives. In Ezekiel 37:15-17 it talks of the two sticks one of Judah. (the bible) (Christ came through the lineage of Judah). And on of Joseph through Ephraim. (Ezekiel was a prophet from 592-570 A.D.) (Lehi left Jerusalem at about 600 A.D.) (Lehi and his family did not make it to the promised land until roughly 589 A.D. so they didn’t have the prophecy when they left but around the time they got to America it was prophesied) so Lehi was of the line of joseph but of Manasseh. Ishmael was of the tribe of Ephraim. However the tribe of Ephraim had the birthright. So anything of joseph gets represented as though Ephraim. Also if you read verse 16 it explains it’s for everyone else. Then in verse 17 it says ‘’and join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.’’ This is the bible, the stick of Judah, and the book of Mormon, the stick of Ephraim through joseph. Through joseph smith we have both of these two sticks and they are one in thine hand. They have both been translated into a single tongue and put together so they can be one. And be used as one for the fullness of the gospel.
This also fulfills many prophecies in the bible talking about how the gospel of Christ will be taken from the earth and will then be restored (Acts 3:21). And the fullness of the gospel will be restored to the earth (Ephesians 1:10,6-10)

I am working hard here and it is paying off. Im missing football. Adam said I would miss deep heavy squats. Yepp I do

Janurary 16, 2014

Hello family.
How is it going. This week was adventurist. I am a missionary. I went proselyting for the first time. And it was like ok her are some golden investigators. Go teach them. All the north American missionaries got on a bus and drove 20 minutes. We were all given a map and then said be back at this point in 5 hours to be picked up. Ok good luck. It is truly amazing that after 12 days we were trusted to go out into a different country speaking a different language and to try and teach people about the gospel. The first two hours were horrible. We probally walked about 4 miles and no one wanted to talk. And we were sweating like pigs. We sat down had a soda and lunch and then refocused said a prayer and was able to rely upon the lord in the prayer we asked that our skills in prosoliting would be strengthened. Not to find people. But to strengthen our skills. And that is what we did right then we felt motivated to knock doors. Something I would never do in a million years before this but at the same time I am different and I have to act different but I was blessed to have the motivation to do it. I got well over 50 doors slammed in my face saying no gracias soy catholic. But I got pretty good at saying si audios chau. I was confident enough to keep going. My Spanish skills can use some work I can introduce myself ‘’somos missonarios de la inglesia de jesucristo’’ and then have a couple more lines to say but then when they start talking really fast and using words I don’t know I get a little lost.
Overall proselyting was a good experience. It is hard work but you learn a lot about missionary work, others, and you’re self
we get a knew mtc pres. On Tuesday.  And I really like the one we have now. But the new one will be great. I have been reading a lot in the last words of the prophets. In the bible and in the BOM. Those words are so packed full of powerful commandments and doctrine. It is very cool how well the the bible and the BOM fit together in there teachings. You truly need both. You cant have one with out the other. They each prophecy of each other. And if I love 2 nephi 33:10
10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also aJew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and bbelieve in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall cbelieve in Christ ye will believe in these dwords, for they are theewords of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they fteach all men that they should do good.
Its true. If you believe in Christ and you read the BOM with an open heart. You will be able to read it and see that the words written in it really are the words of your loving savior. Jesus Christ.
I have been able to teach and guide my district on numourous times and I have been blessed with better leadership skills as well as a better ability to be firm in the rules. It is a great experience in the mtc but I am ready to go out and be in the field.
