Jan 30, 2014

this week went by really quick. we got in new elder last night. they got in at 11 and the hermanas came noocking on our door and i had no idea what was going on. so being the district leader me and my comp went and help the new elders get to there rooms and make there beds take there suitcases up tell them what time to wake up, what time is breakfast. all that stuff. so i got back to bed at midnight. thats really late for a missonary.

we get in about 30 more missonaries today. so it should be fun meeting everyone. i have been able to talk to the new people in spanish and get my point across. i ever was using different tenses. so that was good. this week we are going prosoliting in a niceer area. that means there is some american food. which is nice i am excited to be out in the feild. dan and i have been talking and he will pick me up from the airport.

andrew and adam. the latins are so small. it is kinda funny. like the tallest is 5'9 they are short. i have read alot in the book of mormon and it is truly amazing how happy it makes you. it truly is the word of christ. we have listened to numorous president holland talks and it is amazing how powerfull he is i love him. he is really cool.

we saw some missonaries that are going home yesterday it was cool to talk to them and have them tells us some experiences

i am continually working and it is paying off. my spanish is comming along. i still dont know everything but i am almost to the point where i can manage. the grammer isnt right and the words arent perfect but its getting there.

January 23, 2014

This week we got a new mission president. His travels were delayed he was supposed to arrive on Tuesday morning. So that being said. I was having a district leader meeting with president openshaw and around 7:35ish president gave a prayer. He prayed that the new president would not be harmed in his travels with the weather.(I thought it was odd he asked for his safety with the weather) Ok so about 3 minutes later the weather picked up and was horrible winds and thunderstorms. The old president had no idea it was going to do that. The new presidents plane came in for landing at around 7:40 so as it approached it hit the storm with 50 knot I believe cross winds and lightning. A 10 foot chunck of the right leading egde on the wing wripped off and was sucked into the engine. The leading edge getting wripped off should of taken the plane down. It has in the past. Then the piece getting sucked into the engine should of blown the engine up. The plane should of crashed. No doubt should it of crashed. I know that president openshaw was guided by the spirit to prayer for the safety of the president. I know that God was looking out for the president in his travels. It was a very cool experience to see.    There is a picture of it if you search it. It was delta 101. So he had to be diverted on an emergency landing in montivedo and showed up her the next day at 5 in the morning.
This week has been focused around the new president. We are going out prosoliting again this Saturday so it should be fun. It helps learn you learn Spanish really quickly. I am getting more and more comfortable with it and and ready to be on the field already. I feel the best way to learn it now is to just use it. 3-4 weeks in the mtc is about all you need. The rest is just touch up stuff that you could do in the field.

I was reading in the bible and came across this. This was really cool.
In Ezekiel 37 it is prophesying of the resurrection of mankind.
However look at it from a different view. The view of the restoration of the gospel.
We were spiritually dead. We hadn’t had it in a while. Our bones were very dry (Ezekiel 37:2). He then put the breath back into us (Ezekiel 37:2). He put back in the spirit into our lives. In Ezekiel 37:15-17 it talks of the two sticks one of Judah. (the bible) (Christ came through the lineage of Judah). And on of Joseph through Ephraim. (Ezekiel was a prophet from 592-570 A.D.) (Lehi left Jerusalem at about 600 A.D.) (Lehi and his family did not make it to the promised land until roughly 589 A.D. so they didn’t have the prophecy when they left but around the time they got to America it was prophesied) so Lehi was of the line of joseph but of Manasseh. Ishmael was of the tribe of Ephraim. However the tribe of Ephraim had the birthright. So anything of joseph gets represented as though Ephraim. Also if you read verse 16 it explains it’s for everyone else. Then in verse 17 it says ‘’and join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.’’ This is the bible, the stick of Judah, and the book of Mormon, the stick of Ephraim through joseph. Through joseph smith we have both of these two sticks and they are one in thine hand. They have both been translated into a single tongue and put together so they can be one. And be used as one for the fullness of the gospel.
This also fulfills many prophecies in the bible talking about how the gospel of Christ will be taken from the earth and will then be restored (Acts 3:21). And the fullness of the gospel will be restored to the earth (Ephesians 1:10,6-10)

I am working hard here and it is paying off. Im missing football. Adam said I would miss deep heavy squats. Yepp I do

Janurary 16, 2014

Hello family.
How is it going. This week was adventurist. I am a missionary. I went proselyting for the first time. And it was like ok her are some golden investigators. Go teach them. All the north American missionaries got on a bus and drove 20 minutes. We were all given a map and then said be back at this point in 5 hours to be picked up. Ok good luck. It is truly amazing that after 12 days we were trusted to go out into a different country speaking a different language and to try and teach people about the gospel. The first two hours were horrible. We probally walked about 4 miles and no one wanted to talk. And we were sweating like pigs. We sat down had a soda and lunch and then refocused said a prayer and was able to rely upon the lord in the prayer we asked that our skills in prosoliting would be strengthened. Not to find people. But to strengthen our skills. And that is what we did right then we felt motivated to knock doors. Something I would never do in a million years before this but at the same time I am different and I have to act different but I was blessed to have the motivation to do it. I got well over 50 doors slammed in my face saying no gracias soy catholic. But I got pretty good at saying si audios chau. I was confident enough to keep going. My Spanish skills can use some work I can introduce myself ‘’somos missonarios de la inglesia de jesucristo’’ and then have a couple more lines to say but then when they start talking really fast and using words I don’t know I get a little lost.
Overall proselyting was a good experience. It is hard work but you learn a lot about missionary work, others, and you’re self
we get a knew mtc pres. On Tuesday.  And I really like the one we have now. But the new one will be great. I have been reading a lot in the last words of the prophets. In the bible and in the BOM. Those words are so packed full of powerful commandments and doctrine. It is very cool how well the the bible and the BOM fit together in there teachings. You truly need both. You cant have one with out the other. They each prophecy of each other. And if I love 2 nephi 33:10
10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also aJew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and bbelieve in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall cbelieve in Christ ye will believe in these dwords, for they are theewords of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they fteach all men that they should do good.
Its true. If you believe in Christ and you read the BOM with an open heart. You will be able to read it and see that the words written in it really are the words of your loving savior. Jesus Christ.
I have been able to teach and guide my district on numourous times and I have been blessed with better leadership skills as well as a better ability to be firm in the rules. It is a great experience in the mtc but I am ready to go out and be in the field.

Jan 9, 2014

Hello family.
How is it going. This week has been crazy. Alot of stuff has happened. The first email i sent didnt work and it got deleated so i am going to write a new one real quick. It is very good here. It is alot of work. However it has a lot of reward.
To start off from when i left on the plane i got moved to an exit row which was very nice. There wasnt any missionaries on my first flight. Then i landed in atlanta. If anyone knows atlanta i was on one side of the airport and i had to go to the international terminal which was on the other side of the airport. That airport is really spread out and huge. But i got to the terminal and i found all the other missionaries. There was 8 elders and 8 hermanas on the flight to argentina, we all got on the plane and we Heard all the latins speaking spanish. We all had absolutly no idea what they were saying or if they were even saying anywords at all and just rambling random things. I got moved again to the exit ro won this flight. And on this plane there wasnt a seat in front of it and i could sprawl out and try and sleep. None of the missionaries got anything more then 3 hours of sleep on the plane.
We got to the airport and got through custums somehow without knowing any spanish at all. Then we got on this tiny bus with all our luggage and got to the ccm.
I have learned so much here at the CCM (MTC). I have learned so much about the góspel and about christ. I have learned so musch spanish now that i am here. It is kinda impressive that in a week i can now hold full 10-15 minute conversations with people in spanish as well as pray and bear my testimony in spanish as well. It is crazy how much you can do if you rely on the lord and and depend on him in everything. If you rely on the lord you can acomplish everything.  (my spanish is progressing so quickly i think in some spanish now and as i write in my journal i use spanish words and spanish grammer with out thinking. So those that know i am horiable at english spelling and gramar it is gonna get alot worse over these next two years.)
President openshaw is amazingly smart with the scriptures. You can ask him any góspel related question no matter how deap orhow shallow it is he will through our 3-4 scriptures of the top of his head that would answer your question. He is rediculus.
This week there has been so much that has been going on. I just went to the temple and the sesión was in spanish, that was an adventure. But it was really good.
I am district leader. I dont know what its like in the provo mtc but here it is alot of work here. I have the biggest district here with 10 6 elders 4 hermanas. There is a total of 58 missionaries in the ccm here. It is really good to go out to a different country and really immerse your self in the cultura. You learn alot faster
The food is really good. Breakfast is always cereal. Lunch and dinner is 10-12 ounces of meat surounded by a side dish. It is normally chicken or beef. Then i have about a foot of bread (simular to subway bread but more like sourdough) then i have about 5-6 hardboiled eggs. I am getting plenty of food.
I dont have much time to read or to respond to everyones email but i will print them and read them and respond next week.
Everything is doing good here at the CCM.

Love

Elder Pulsipher
