June 30

this week we worked really hard.

we have been working with a family alot. it has been really good. she is a menos activo and he is a member and the best part about it is that they are maried, they are about 45-50 and they got married last year. so that is a pluss.

we are working hard o get our ward going again. we had about a month with 90-100 now its 70-80. but we are working hard to fix the attendence.

we have a huge fireside put on by the mission president for the stake. they have put a few on in different zones and it has been a huge success. life chaging.  so we have one in our zone on the 26 of july so that will be good. we are singing a couple of song. i thought battle hymn of the republic was super easy to sing until i started singing it in spanish. it is pretty imposible. but we are going to sing that as well as others.

we had a small meeting with the stake president after our choir practice on suday. he taught us about making the most of our mission. and then he talked about after the mission. he told us so we get home to the airport and our family is waiting there for us. we go home we give them hugs we are super happy. then we go to the stake presidents office and talk with him and get releced. then he asked us who will be waitng out side of that door for us.. everyone answerd with our mom our dad our brothers our sisters. he said yeah but theres one more...... satin. he will be there waiting to corrupt you right after you get home. that was something to think about really strongly. we have him waiting to tempt us. he is there to tempt everyone.

that is grat that karly got baptized. that is amazing that she could make that choice.

i hope that everyone is foing great. and that you are having a great summer back home. and where ever you are in the world. with the cup going in me and my comp are amzed saying we have friends in all of these nations all around the world. not many 18 year olds can say that they have friends in over 20 countries right now.

so i am staring to like fruit more and more. i am ventering to tangarines now. and kiwis. oranges we will see how that goes.

June 23, 2014

well this week uruguay won. if we win this next game we go on and it is italy. this will be an awesome game.

we are working hard and we have found a new family. the daughter is a member of two years she is 15 and the dad reads the BOM and prays already wich is amazing. he just works on the weekends in the compo. so but this family is really awesome. we have been on bikes minus the rainy days. we dont want mud all over our backs. but my legs are getting a really good work out since we got them a while ago.

we have been doing alot of wood cutting and we do it with machetes. we went and got our selves one they were super cheap like 5 dollars. we went to cut wood and it didnt do anything. the banch fell of before it would cut anything so we went and looked at the blade. it was blunt as can be. we didnt know you had to sharpen them. so we got it nice and sharpe and it cut like butter. i got a nice callus on my hand in the palm form cutting so much.

my comp is the DL. this is my third out of 4 changes with my comp as the DL.

my comps brother is going to byu to play he just started. it is funny to read and hear his stories and my and my comp to compare them to ours. they are all so simular.

this week we have a game on tuseday and the time of our district meeting just changed. president feels it is important that we are incorperating with the members in this cultural event.

it was such a crazy thing after we won. everyone was in there cars and motos going nuts in the streets. hoinking and letting off fireworks and going crazy. it was cool to see how much national pride they have here.

we had an amazing sacrament meeting this week the. it was ward council. we had a special musical number from the elders cuando hay amor. and we killed it.

everything is going great.

we had cows crossing the road on us the other day.

our ward is working hard to help the missionaries. missionary work is really amazing. i have been getting updated that people at home are talking the discussions and they have changed so much and they have so much joy in there lives from it

June 17, 2014

this week was an eventfull week with the conferences and with changes and with the Cup.

to start of we had a mission conference. we havent had one in over 10 years so it was awesome. and on the adenda it said this. what to do with your time during the cup.

it was the last thing. during coinference. president got up and said ok so what to do with your time. i prayed and pondered about this one alot and because the cup is tradition of the people here. you may watch it at a members house. everyone jumped up and started to screem and shout. then he looked at his wife and then asked so when is the game. everyone yelled saturday. and at what time AT 4. and then he looked at his wife and laughed.

artigas was nuts before the game. i counted 115 flags over a street 3 blocks long. it was nuts but as well we went all out and dressed all up for the game to we had flags and jerseys that we barrowd and beenies and everything. it was nuts. but we lost so that was a downer. everyone was kinda depressed after wards.

also we walked into a house and the usa game was starting and it was the national anthom so we had to stand there and sing it. we had to drop of a card. so we sang it then gave them the card and then was saying good bye and GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL wwith in 28 sesonds we scored so we were going nuts. but we had to leave because we cant watch them. we found a house that was not watching the game and taught a lession. and then to the next house we walked in and the game was on and gaahna scored a goal right as we walked in. so we were said and we then noticed that there was 15 minutes left so we said ok we got to go we will come back a nother time and visit with you then and then we were saying good bye and GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.  usa scored again we were there for 2 minutes and saw all three goals in the game. it was like the espn highlights.

Happy fathers day dad.

then the other conference we had on the same day as the conference for just my mission was the double mission conference. it was the first time it has ever been done. i learnd alot and it was cool to see all the missionaries. there was 4 byu football players there. so i brought my flag and we have a picture. it was cool to take that picture.

both conferences were awesome.

next changes. i am staying with elder el-bakri for a nother change. however one of the zls is going to be the ap so he left already to montevedeo. so i am in a three some since sunday till thurseday. Adam i dont klnow how you did it. a three some is hard and weird.

i am still working hard and i am loving it alot. im getting used to the rain now. you just bundle up in your jacket and you just have your shoes filled with water all day longs. i got to find some boots.

June 9, 2014

sorry this weeks message is short but we had a teaching appointment today for two hours and it cut our time down.

the teachjing appointment was debby. the american. we had lunch and spoke english. she used to be a body builder. and she has won a ton of awards. she even said she will write us a workout. she is awesome.

also this week it is getting colder and colder. i am wearing sweats and socks and jacket and bundling up in my sleeping bag at night.

this week we will be going down to a mission conference in montivedeo with both missions. elder robbins will be there to adress us. this will be a ton of missionaries at one stake center. this will be fun. there is one fottball player for byu in the other mission and we are going to take a pic with the byu flag that i have. the three of us.

i heard that graduation was this week. now only one more year until aubrey gets graduated.

i am loving working out here and have learned a ton, i am reading in d and c alot still and it is really black or white.

well this saturday at 430 i have no idea what i am going to do. uruaguay plays in the cup. no one will talk to us. if anyone lets us in they will have there eyes glued to the screen. everyone is buying tvs to prep for the cup. this will be a fun next couple of weeks. an exciting one. but bad news if urugu

ay gets second place in there pool they play right during the time of the church. and all the shaky members will watch the game insted of going to church. this will be a fun challenge to tackle.

everyone has flags and is going nuts with all the cup stuff.

we have been having alot of fun together me and elder elbakri and have been working really hard.

i received the package last week i forgot to send that last week thank you so much mom for sending it and also thank you alexa for the picture book.

June 2, 2014

This week we have been working hard i went on divisions twice. that was fun one of them i was over at the house that elder staffieri was at. that was cool to do that but we see eachoither at least 2-3 times a week anyways.

this week coming up we have a championship of the 30 PLUS  in soccer. it is on saturday and they are playing ward against ward so this should be fun to watch. everyone is getting prepped for this tournment. our court outside of my church building just got painted for it so it should be fun to help out with. also the youth will have activitiys and the kids as well.

the gas for our heater ran out on saturday night but it was to late to get a new gas tank. so for sunday and for this morning we just had to bundle up durning studies. the wether here in the winter gets pretty cold and the houses are just as cold as it is out side so there not very warm.

this change has been a really fun one with Elder El-Bakri. Its fun to see how simular we are. we both love math and science. physics in particular. we both have dads who gratuatded in a bioolgy something. both play football for byu both have just about the same likes and enterest same music and stuff too. and most of all the same eating desires.

with the cold here i just rememhber up at byu why is it cold with out snow. it isnt that cold but cold with out snow is no fun. expecialy because it means rain and rain is just cold and wet i would rather just have snow cause its dry. i told all that to my comp and he said hay ava byu converted you. basicaly cold and no snow is pointless cold.

these last week and a half i have been reading in Doctrine and COvenants and i am at section 52. we have this thing called baja la caƱa. it means drop the cain. basically it is calling somone to repentence.  or it says something so straight forward and blunt that there is either good or evil.
basically DandC drops the cain all over the place. it is very straight forward on what is good and what isnt. and what is good it of Jesus and what is not that is of the Devil. anything more or anything less is of him too.

also i was followin this reading guide for the year that i found in the childrens section of the january liahona. and it is for the old testament. it is really good and it tells the story of the new testament really well. it just has the scriptures of the main story so it is really nice. you should find it and do it as well

that is awesome to here about catherine and how she is doing great. i cant wait to see her. i just hit 5 months today so i got about 18 months and some change left in the mission. i got alot to learn here still. i have got a good hold on spanish now. well the understanding and things i have to work with my gramer still. adam sent me a letter that he sent to his mission buddies and it was in spanish and i understood it all and it was all in spanish and i didnt have top translate it in my head so that is a good thing. i have been talking alot more in spanish and it is not to the point were i can think almost in it. im not having to translate it to english fist. i just know that words mean sertain actions.

everyone is getting ready for the cup and is getting excited for it. it can be hard because that if there is a game on no one wants to talk to you. ever most members.

we hear all about the cup though from members. aperatly suarez tore his knee and he isnt going to play. we here this about three times aday and its always whats the latest on him. everyone talks about it. or we have heard numerous times how ronaldo just destroyed the championship of the league of champions in england how he had 3 goal to come back and win it in extra time. we heard that for a good week and a half.

futbal is everything here. it is actually kinda fun to be here in this time of excitement with the cup. the world cupo is mamouth.

i dont have my cord this week so i will send pics next week.

May 25, 2014

this week i had to go down to montevedeo to sign my papers for my visa so i left last night got here this morninbg and had p day here and am leaving in the night back to artigas it was fun to have a day in the big city here. well little big city. we took the city busses around alot and went to the beach. and walked around a little bit it is really cool here. at the main terminal here it is called tres cruses. they have all the busses there and also they have a huge mall. we wer aloud to go around and look i saw a levi shop and went to see if there was a pair of pants that would fit me. yepp nope the biggest they had was 36x32 with a 511 skinny cut i wear 569 38x34 so they are really small and they were about 3500 pesos so like 160 dollars really expensive.

this last week it got really cold a couple of days ago the water froze a little bit outside in the morning. thank you grandma for the scarf it is working great. we have this heater that we cuddle around because it is really cold in the mornings here. but we are making it an efgfort to work out and do sit ups or stuff inside our sleeping bags because it is to cold to get out of them.

adriana a talk in church this last week she is really progressing a long way. she is becoming really active in the church and we are going to get her to the temple here soon.

this week it also rained aton it rained so much that it covered the street with a river so i was walking sdown the streets in 4 inches of water and my shoes were completly soaked and i couldnt do anything about it either. i need some big old plasic rain boats or somthing haha. thanks to my waterproof camera we were able to get pictures of it but i dont have my cord so next week will have to do to send them.

also we are going to have a nother zone conference this change except with both mission here and a president of the 70 will be speaking so i will have the opprotunity to listen to him as well. so i will have a nother 16 hour bus ride down to montivedeo and back next week.

also this week we had a ward activity of the iron rod. it reminded me of fathers and sons when i was younger and we had to walk on a 2x4 and we were tempted with little candy bars but if we made it with out falling we got a huge one.
it was simular it was around the church and the people were blindfolded and we told them to let go and follow us and some did and they were lost and couldnt do anything they needed the help of someone else to find the rod

so i dont have my cord but have a ton of pics for next week i hop'e all is great at home and everyone keeps working hard.

May 19th, 2014

hello family

this week we had zone conference and we had a 70 that came to talk to us so we had half the mission there. there was a lot of people. they had us fast before it so it could be more spiritual.  we had to wake up at 3 in the morning to get on a bus to go to ticuadombo. it was about a 3 hour drive. i tried to sleep the whole way and maybe got an hour. so when i got there i was a little hungry and tired and thirsty and it was 5 straight hours of capasitacion. that is a bad combo for a zone conference and for me to understand everything. but i tried my hardest.  dad i had to use what you did as a bishop and keep one leg in the air and rotate legs. but i learned a ton in this zone conference. it was fun to see everyone from my group there was 8 out of the ten from my group there.

also this week we got our helmets we are gonna look a little rediculus cause they are small so the are like bubble tops on our heads but it will be good.

we ran out of gas in our heater so we were with out heat for sunday and this morning until we could get a new tank of gas. the heater that we have just spits out heat it is really nice. it came with the house and it is awesome.

adriana just finished the libro de mormon in one month exactly. we promised here brownies if she did so we proudly made here brownies. she has been working hard to gain a deeper testimony of the gosple.

this week we found out that one of out part member invesdtigater wasnt married so we got to get that done. that is a huge probnlem here no one gets married. kinda like guatamala.

me and my comp are working really hard and are trying to reactivate all 578 members in our ward.

also the wrestler in our house taught me and my comp some wrestling moves so we had to try them out on each other. so we were going and we both slammed each other. but dont worry we got our extra matresses out. bad news they slide around and they are never in the spot were you fall.

also this week the priesthood had a activity it was like our fathers and sons except it was just a asado night the only problem was it was the night that we were fasting so we couldnt eat it.

the boarder for bazil is getting beefed up for the cup they have tanks and military and cameras there all day and everyday now. everyone is gettinmg really excited here for the cup. it is really cool to see how big the cup really is. it is bigger then the super bowl.

but adam i remeber you said that you could get tickets to the cup just getting there would be hard. just come here to artigas and walk across the bo

rder it is really easy and the military there dont stop anyone they are just drug controll. but we are about 5 hours on bus to the clostest stadium. you could get there real easy.

congrats to laura and the baby that is awesome.

congrats to alisa knowels as well for getting baptised.
