June 1, 2015

this week was a interseting week with my district.

in my district there is 8 people in total. so it is me and my comp and the other 2 in our ward and then we have a nother ward that has 4 elders in it. i went on divisions with elder crocket and he has been strugling with his comp. he has one change more then me. mom you know how you always said there is always 100 percent in a companionship. its either 100 and 0 or 25 and 75 or 550 50. one awesome elder and one dud. so thats the situation and he was assigned to help this elder change. so for the last change and a half  elder crocket hasnt had a awesome day. i went in blind to most of the problems. but we went out and worked in his area and we had 7 lessions and found 3 people and gave 2 people baptism dates. it was a awesome day. and it really animated him. however he told me that the other 2 elders in his house have obidience problems and his comp goes with them.and and disobidient. i did not know how bad it was. and of the things that he told me as well and the things that i saw. i wrote down everthing that i saw wrong. it came out to a list of 20 major things. the first of which was wakeing up on time. i then tlaked with the zone leaders about it and they said that is a huge problem because the elders that were being dissobidient were training. so tjat needs to be changed right now. just by chance we had a zone capacitation the next day. the zone leaders had just gone to the concilio with presiident. and president being super inspired had already talked about many of the problems that we were having. the the zone leaders emfizized those points. and then we were able to talk to them individually afterwards. i have planned to do divisions with these elders this week so i hope i can help them out. because there area is strugling as well.

so other then that we have been woking hard. we have finally gained some trust with the bishopric. he set out a huge task for us. he gave us 15 names that he wanted  us to reactivate and if we could get them back to church as soon as posible so they could have an interveiw with bishop and start progressing. he was expecting maybe 5 there for interveiws. we showed up to church and we had 12 there. and we told him good luck haha. so he had tons of them to do but he finally saw that we are here to work. and now they are more willing to help us with things and work with us.

this week we had to stop miriujm and rosana from fighting. that was interesting. they wer yelling at eachother and rosana was balling and screaming. so we had no idea what to do. so we jut started singing. the song ended and then we started to talk and 2 seconds in then went off again. so we instantly started a different song. and kept going and going and after 7 hymns they had finnly calmed down. and they were in different rooms now. so we could talk individually. with the  mom we asked her five things that her daughter does for her and then we asked the same of the daughter and somehow. i dont know how, but we left and they were really happy and had no intentions of fight. me and my comp left and then in the street we said pound it. we just stopped world war 3.

i have been studing the plan of salvation alot latley. i have not been trying to but everything i read had things about the judgment in it. i guess i needed to learn about that. and then on friday night i was on divisions. i was with someone in his 2nd change and he said he was going to teach a story about the plan of salvation. and so he went and then he asked me to take over. and i was able to teach this family that has been active for the last 9 months preparing for the temple the plan of salvation in a way of how important things we do and how big this plan is and the things that are waiting for us after this life. it was an awesome experience

and then last night we were with our ward mission leader and he had gotten in an argument with a member. and i was able to teach him heleman 3 30 to 35

and the major thing with that is the remady to pride is fasting and pray and it is so truye.

May 25, 2015

so yesterday we had a meeting with the ward mission learder in the church at 730. we get there at 715 and there was someone knocking on the door. and we came up and he asked what was the street name. and he told us there was a guy having a seizure in front of the church. so we told him the name and then hit the door bell (because there was an activity happening in the church, new beginings i think) and then the bishops wife came down. we told her and then the bishop came down as well. and we were able to go out and help the guy. the other people that were helping him were just random people on the street as well. but we were able to get him blankets from the church and then hold him down so he didnt bang his head on the concrete. the ambulance system does not work all that well here. they called 3 times and no one came. so they called the police. and they showed up. we told them the situation. and they said well, we can take him to the hositle. so we picked him up and tossed him in the back of the car. as we left we picked up the extra blankets and things and found a coke bottle. andrew and adam you guys would know what the coke bottle would be filled with(from experiences from your mission). but it was good that we were able shouw up early to help him out even if it was just holding him down and getting him blankets. because we got there like 30 seconds after it all started. i have come to appriciate when people are early. and the guayan way is to be late. like later then mormon standard time.

this last change we have been working with a lady named mirium(75). and she is crazy. but we have now gotten to the point were we can have a spiritual lession with her. she has made alot of progress. she hasnt missed a single week. and the bishop is now thinking about giving her a limited use temple recomond. so she is progressing a ton. now to work with her daughter(38). she is still crazy. to the point we asked her to read a scripture and then she started laughing really really hard and it wasnt over anything. we had a little laugh afterwards and said she is like the joker. but we are going to have patcience with here  and help her along the way to. she has lots to do. on is to start controling her body wieght. she is up around 120 kilos. but the spirit is starting to work on her. i would consider it a miricle on what is happening with mirium and now we will just wait for her daughter

i was studying in helaman 11 and i was thinking to myself, why would the lord do that. why would he poke the bear and make them fight. he knew that that would be the outcome if he gave nephi that power and responsibility.
but then i thought for the reason. the lord wants to bless us. he wants to so bad that he will make wars and famines just to humble his people so they will open there eyes and let God bless them. for example with the alagory of the olive tree he cut the dead branches off. and burned them. so God will take action to agrivate his children that need to be humbled. and then once they have gotten frustrated enough, they open there eyes.

God could of waited 15 years for them to follow there path and end up fighting in the end. but God wants things done now. and what he wants he gets. and in a matter of 5 years the entire city turned there hearts to God and then were able to receive blessings.

as a zone we have been working to get everyone more focused on there work. we have been focusing on looking at there success with graghs. so everone will start to make graphs of there areas and there numbers to see what they need to focus in on. this will help them be more self suficcient. and be able to work hard in all the things that they need to.

i have been working hard with p90x. yoga is a real but kicker. i finished the video and it ends with oommms. like the budah meditation thing. and i was doing them and my comp walked in. that was kinda funny because he started cracking up.

i dont think i mentioned, maybe i did but my comp is cousins with me. his 5th great grandpa is zera pulsipher

well i love you all keep working hard

May 19, 2015

this week was the week of changes. for me there was no change. we are staying together. and also my district is staying the exact same. so thiswill be good for getting the ball rolling. the change hasnt even started but we have all the divisions already planned out and everything.

today i was able to go to the temple, it has been a while since i have gone. it has been since december. we had to wake up at 530 to go, but its worth it. we are working with the ward to prepare them for there ward conference. they are focussing in on the theme of family history. also i was assigned to be the young mens president. so this week with the youth for mutual we are going to the stake center and we are going to the family history center and we are getting them all rolling with family search.

this last week as well we had  baptism in the ward. she had been an investigator for 8 months and was just waiting on getting married to get baptized.  but she got baptized.

i have been looking for families to teach and i have been praying for them to. it is something that i am searching for in this area. this ward needs a few more young families in it.

i have practiced making peanut butter and i am getting pretty good at it. its not skippy pero es lo que hay.

with changes we have to clean the house and do a deap clean on it. our sink has been stinking. so i took it apart, the plumbiing. and cleaned it all out. it waspretty bad. like watercould hardly get through. so now the house is cleaned up and it is alot nicer.

happy birthday catherine. thats crazy thats she is already 1 year old.

keep up the work and working hard.

i love you all

May 4, 2015

this week we had may first and on may first the world shuts down. litterally. there was no busses. all the stores shut down and all the members went of a stake ativity. and everyone else was just at home making asados or at friends houses partying
but luckly we had charlas planned that day and they didnt fall through on us so we were good.
this week i went on 2 divisions. one with thezone leaders and the other with a elder in my district. the zone leaders house is ontop of the zero. it is right next to the fortaleza. if you look it up youll know what i am talking about. it is one of the biggest and only hills that exsist in uruguay. but for the morning we ran up the hill and the night before we stuffed ourselves with aroz con leche. and it was super windy. so we sprinted up all the way to the top of the him and then on the way back down i had to make a stop and had a little breakfast of arroz con leche from the night before. it didnt taste the same the second time. and then we made it all the way back to the house. but the veiw from the top of the hill is awesome. you can see all of montevideo.

so somthing very interesting that happened this week is we taught a guy that is a navy seal but for the uruguay army. and it was fun being able to teach him. he is a member of the church. he was baptized 8 months ago but he got shipped of the night he was baptized on a special mission and was gone for three months. and then had more mini missions that he had. but now has a month off and is going to progress well. we were teaching him the doctrine of christ and we were talking about a part were it says. if you dont repent and be baptized you will be condenado. and that means damned in english. but it doesnt work well in spanish. but what it is trying to say is that you will not get the blessings from God. you can not progress more. so we were talking about that and i asked him if he knows what it feels like when his body can litterally go no more. he straight face told me ¨No¨ no i dont. and i was like oh man he really doenst. i was thinking about that and then applying it to us in the goepel. we can always keep going it is our mind and satan that tell us we cant. he reminded me of what i learned up at college. that you can always go more. you always have more in your tank and can always fight more. when your body says it is done. you have 2 thirds of the tank to go.

this week i saw an examplñe of that. we went out to work with someone that is paralized on one side. he asked to go out. we walked for an hour and a half with him. (normaly a 10 minute walk) he has a crutch and he (tee tok´s) his way around. thats what he calls it. he can only speak 5 to six different words. but the crazy thing is is he is converted. he is fighting to EVERYTHING he can to help the lord and to serve him. he can always do more. he might not of been able to testify in the lesson or to talk at all. but he was  a great testimony to me that no mater who we are or how we are there is work to be done and we have to be willing to do it. and we have to give everything thing that we can. and if we can willingly do that we will be blessed.

this sunday  there is voting and the whole world will shut down. and it will be crazy. not even our church building will be open for the sacrament. there will be voting that will take place within. so we have to go to the church in delta. the one that i got lost finding and then finally found it. so we will go out there and then come back home and plan. and then skype the family.

so i hope everything is going great and hope everyone is able to read the book of mormon everyday.

April 20, 2015

this week has been a week a little differnet becasue my comp was sick so we were stuck in the house for 3 days.but this week we have also dropped alot of people. so we are in the finding game again.

we are working alot now witht the ward list and the area book. we are having to be very diligent with this because if we dont there wont be a reward. we have been finding alot of people have moved from the area.

this week i have studied alot on the attonement. i had been teaching people about the gathering of isreal, but they just werent getting it like they were in rivera(my last area) and i was stumped. why are they not getting it here and why did they get it in rivera. and what i came to conclusion was the following. my first 2 months in rivera we taught about the doctirne of christ and about the attonement and we drilled it into the people with that. and then as missionaries being prepared with the doctirne of christ i was then able to learn and be able to teach the next stepp. the gathering of isreal. i was able to understand what is the gathering of isreal and its purpose because i had a good hold on the doctrine of christ. and of the attonement. going along with that why is it that the peple, or other missionaries, do not understand the gathering of isreal. because they do not understand the doctrine of christ. that could have a hold on the attonement or they could be faulting that as well. but it is a procces and the lord gave it to our mission in that order for a reason. we needed time to prepare for all of the things before hand.

in mosiah 27 it talked about how alma the younger gets converted to the gospel and then after he repents and has a change of heart he then goes out and teached and preaches the gospel. it is a great example to all the missionaries because he was name called and beated but he kept going because his joy as a missionary is to bring others the joy he was experiencing. something that is a example as well in mosiah 18 verse 1 is that all missionoaries have to repeant first and then they can teach the gospel.
but in mosiah 28 verse 1 and 2 alma the younger and the sons of mosiah are forming there equipo misional. they got all the conversos recientes and brought them together. and they all had deseos to go out and teach so they all went out together and were able to teach the laminites in a more productive way.

today we had an asado with the 2nd consler in the bishopric and it was funn. he has a pool table and we were playing and just messing around and he starts to mess around and then he says ok lets play a game. we get going. and then i see a trophy of his. the uruguay champion in pool. so i was like oh boy, and he saw that i saw the trophie and then he just started to go to town and won the game in the next 3 minutes. but he is a great guy and he works had for the ward.

tomrrow we have a conference as a mission and then we have a conference with elder oaks in the afternoon. so it will be a day full of conferences

this week we had an investigater just show up at the church out of the blue and she was super interested. she was a friend of a member so this is a great blessing.

i love you all

April 13, 2015

i am now down here in montevideo again and my ward now is alot differnet from my other ward here in montevideo. it is a whole lot better and the people that live in the ward are more reseptive. this area however touches my last ward. it is crazy how different just one steet difference can make.

last friday i was able to attend a sealing of hermano bentencor. he was my ward mission learder here in oeste 18. the ward i was in 5 months ago. he is awesome and he grew a ton. it was the first sealing i have ever been able to see. i learned alot and was able to learn alot of all the blessings that we have as members of the church. how much grander is our reponsibility to be strong in following christ. this morning i went and signed some papers for a nother family in our ward so they can get married and i will be one of the wittness. there is no comparison of the 2. the temple sealing was powerful and spirituall with blessings and love. were as the the normal way people get married in uruguay is just a process where you get bounced all over the place. and it is just paper work paperwork and more and there are no blessings at all. infact people lose things when they get married. they lose money from the government that they would of gotten if they were single. it is sad to see how much the world has recked marriage and how little that the world understands.

but with the temple i was able to go on divisions with elder naea. he was my comp in 18. so it was fun to go and see all the members again. as well president smith was able to attend with his wife. and we were able to talk with him in the temple. the gathereing of isreal and the sealing ordinance go together so well and are eternally conected.

this week in church we had 108 in the church so this is a large ward here in uruguay. there are alot of people that need help here. the area as well is going to need some work. it is a great area and ready to go but the last 5 to six elders that were here were not all that hard working and focussed on the work. we had people to visit but i honestly feel like the missionaries went and found the craziest people and taught them and they somehow made it through baprism because they went to church 3 times. and the ward works hard but they aresnt looking for the missionaries help. because they dont trust them. presiedent has given me the assignment to clean things up here. and get them back on track. i am going to start with the house.its got t get cleaned. i honestley feel like we are going to have to open the area and drop everyone. we can pick them bak up but for now just start fresh.

i am the 1st conseler in the youngmens so i am in charge of the teachers. and i have 8 in total and 4 go to church and are active. 2 dont have the priesthood and 1 is still a deacon. so as a quorme there is work to be done. the goal we have is to get 6 by the end of the change.

this next week we have elder oaks coming and i have been preparing for him spirituall and emotionally. i hope that i can get everything out of him

keep up the work everyone

Love elder Pulsipher

April 7, 2015

this week with conference was great it was a great way to see and explained how a family should be run and everything. at conference i was able to watch it in 3 different languages. i watched every talk in  the language it was spoken. i havent really been focusing in on learning portugues. but i have been able to learn it here and speak it i little bit. but i can read it and understand it all.

this last week we had teenagers from the stake with us all week. it was a good to help them out. i was able to go with hermano vega. he is about to tuen in his papers and go on the mission. he is 21 years old. he is a great guy and really willing to learn and grow. we were able to teach alot of good strong lessions and he was able to teach alittle bit.

so i am going to cerro in the ward 17. it is right next to oeste 18 were i used to be in montevideo. but in reality it is a whole different world there. i have been there before and the ward ha alot of energy and they are super lively so it will be a great time work down there.

this week with cinference we had numerous of our less actives and investagators that were able top go. it will help them and strengthen them alot in order to continue to grow and strengthen themselfs.

sorry its short this week. i love you all and keep working hard.
